I never caught a bass until I started fly fishing. I only fished for trout as a kid; I just thought that trout only ate nightcrawlers and bright red salmon eggs.

Here's my first trout on a fly rod, caught on the Roaring Fork River near Aspen, CO. I think I was in 8th grade. From that day on -- hooked for life!

Hey Dawn,

Great topic and I have enjoyed seeing all the old pictures of folks fishing way back then. I should have some pictures after Christmas to post after seeing my Mom Christmas day. I called her and told her to dust off some of our old family photo albums which included lots of family camping and fishing trips as we were growing up. Should be fun to look back at them again.

I don't think anybody will beat your record early age to start fishing however. I did have my oldest son, now 27, out fishing as he rode on my back in a little pack when he was less than one . He was only observing and learning the fine art of fly fishing at that time as he couldn't hold the rod just yet

Sheesh and it was over 50 years ago that I first began to fish. Of course it was worms and salmon eggs back then with my Zebco and mostly out around Bishop Creek. Limit was 10 back then and we always had a fish dinner whilst camping.
