My mom says Papa wasn't the best fisherman in the world. I don't think he was very patient. She said he would curse alot - in French - while fishing. So to answer your question.....the creel was probably empty and the fish I'm holding is probably from the corner market.

I thought you were still in your late 20's...dang! You must hold your age well.

I caught my first fish at 6 yrs old. There is a pic somewhere. It would be fun to dig up. That was 1958. Skinny little kid with a huge grin. At the time I did not fully appreciate what I had accomplished. My parent only fessed up years later. Sure it was just a sucker. But there was no hook! (Think barbless only better.) They didn't want me to hurt myself or anyone else since all the other people on the dock were swimming and skiing and socializing. I wanted to fish. So to placate me they tied some sort of bait on the line of my toy fishing rod and let me do my thing. I surprised the hell out of them when I caught a fish. And that picture...well not very flattering but I will post it if I can find it.

About 95% of freshwater anglers in this country, begin fishing, before the age of 12.

Girl, I knew you were special...I didn't know you were THAT special.
