Thoroughly Bashed. 18 Years, 2 Months ago
And another Bash becomes NCFFB history.

I managed to offload some pretty cool Bash pictures after the grueling drive home. I can't add much to the nice reports I've seen. Joey (son of Jet) is a serious threat to my title of Bash fish pond slayer, and will have to be dealt with. It appears we have yet another contender in the form of Junko, daughter of Silent Reader (Neil). Clearly, I am going to have to relinquish my grip on the pond.

The food was just outstanding, as it always is. For those who missed it, I'm especially sorry you didn't get a taste of coffee ice-cream with whiskey topping. Mmmm. I shamelessly drank all wine offered and Phil's Patagonia red was outstanding, as was UC's. Also excellent: UC's roast tenderloin, Jet's mushroom-smothered flank steak, grilled chicken, salads of all description, hot garlic bread. I don't know how anyone continued to drink after such a feast (though I'm confident some did.)

Phil's slideshow was entertaining. I promised beforehand to give him my honest opinion as to whether the average viewer would lose consciousness, but found it really interesting and full of amazing pictures. Phil is a very good photographer.

Jims and I talked photographer geek stuff, and he let me play with his new full frame camera. Now, if only it were a Nikon instead of a Canon. [insert wicked grin here]

Roaddog and "Riot" appeared out of nowhere and Roaddog began slinging pots and pans around in his usual masterful manner, shortly producing an amazing pot of spaghetti and meatballs large enough to feed New Jersey, dripping with melting cheese. Mmm.

A plate was brought out and inscribed in the typical NCFFB tradition so that Slofly would not feel slighted. I might mention his barbequed Bash oysters were mentioned more than once with great fondness. There may have been some additional mention of sheep. I cannot recall the exact context.

Sal-Man, Melissa, Kayla, and kids, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. Please know that you were missed a LOT, and the Bash didn't seem the same without you. If you've ever missed one, it hasn't been since I've been around. I hope and pray for your recovery and strength.

Heck yeah!! You shoulda seen her muscle that trout in .. and that wasn't the first one she had on, either!! I believe he was slated for the dinner table, and there wasn't any squeamishness in evidence that I could see!! I had intended to fish and take bug pictures and so was lucky enough to have my camera on me to whip out (albeit with a macro lens!) when she landed him. The D300 shoots something like 8 frames per second so I got really lucky with the "sailfish" photo!! It takes me back to the days when MY daughter used to like to fish, before she became a teenager... sigh...

Well the macro lense came in handy on that salmon fly pic. Magazine quality for sure!

Still getting into the Digital deal myself. Hate to put the FG away and stop going into the darkroom. But I get it and am converting.

Thanks again, great stuff!

Hey Michelle,
It was good to see you and Jim at the bash. Joey always seems to have a great time hanging out with you at the pond. You guys were both slaying them on complete different techniques. FYI Joey switched to your rig on Sunday morning. Keep the pictures coming.

Tight lines,

Jet & Joey

Nice report Michelle, I certainly had a good time seeing everyone up there again. We should do that every year. The pictures you took turned out very nice. I'll try to post some myself when I get a chance to go through some of them.
