And another Bash becomes NCFFB history.
I managed to offload some pretty cool Bash pictures after the grueling drive home. I can't add much to the nice reports I've seen. Joey (son of Jet) is a serious threat to my title of Bash fish pond slayer, and will have to be dealt with. It appears we have yet another contender in the form of Junko, daughter of Silent Reader (Neil). Clearly, I am going to have to relinquish my grip on the pond.
The food was just outstanding, as it always is. For those who missed it, I'm especially sorry you didn't get a taste of coffee ice-cream with whiskey topping. Mmmm. I shamelessly drank all wine offered and Phil's Patagonia red was outstanding, as was UC's. Also excellent: UC's roast tenderloin, Jet's mushroom-smothered flank steak, grilled chicken, salads of all description, hot garlic bread. I don't know how anyone continued to drink after such a feast (though I'm confident some did.)
Phil's slideshow was entertaining. I promised beforehand to give him my honest opinion as to whether the average viewer would lose consciousness, but found it really interesting and full of amazing pictures. Phil is a very good photographer.
Jims and I talked photographer geek stuff, and he let me play with his new full frame camera. Now, if only it were a Nikon instead of a Canon. [insert wicked grin here]
Roaddog and "Riot" appeared out of nowhere and Roaddog began slinging pots and pans around in his usual masterful manner, shortly producing an amazing pot of spaghetti and meatballs large enough to feed New Jersey, dripping with melting cheese. Mmm.
A plate was brought out and inscribed in the typical NCFFB tradition so that Slofly would not feel slighted. I might mention his barbequed Bash oysters were mentioned more than once with great fondness. There may have been some additional mention of sheep. I cannot recall the exact context.
Sal-Man, Melissa, Kayla, and kids, I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through. Please know that you were missed a LOT, and the Bash didn't seem the same without you. If you've ever missed one, it hasn't been since I've been around. I hope and pray for your recovery and strength.
