The rule about no bobbers! Aren't you paying attention? There's nothing wrong with using a bobber(I've even been known to do it)but you aren't flyfishing when you do it. You are float fishing. They have special rods and reels( and bobbers) for that that are more effective then trying to do it half ass and calling it flyfishing. I've even heard stories about the abortion of a rig AB uses. A bobber the size of a tennis ball with a lure under it. As far as my statement spawning "a feeling of superiority".... You don't seem to notice that you are using negative labels to describe me. You're suggesting that I am somehow lesser then you because I have a view of fly fishing that is different from yours. This suggests that you feel you are the superior "Enlightened One" that knows everything, and the rest of us are elitists or purists or some other negative label that makes YOU feel superior. I'm sure glad we have the mighty Dusty around to learn us all a thing or two.
First off, bobbers/indicators shoudn't even be in the same discussion as being an elitist/purist. Bobbers/indicators isn't flyfishing. Not even close. Whoever thinks that they are, should have there head examined. Indicator fishing may as well be done with a spinning rod. It would be more effective and easier. After all, that's what indicator fisherman want anyways, an easier way to catch fish. Flyfishing is an art, not necessarily the best way to catch fish, but the proper way. You probably will not catch as many as the indicator/float guys but you will look a lot better traditionally flyfishing for them for the few you do hook. Isn't that what true flyfishing is all about? Not the catching but the method?
These so called wannabe steelheaders that use float fishing gear, they all should be shot. I seen them clean house wherever they go. After all, how many fish do you really need to catch? 20 or 30 a day. That is pure gluttony. Reminds me of that fat guy in Mexico who hasn't got out of bed for 6 years. SICK! They all look retarded when they cast them single action CP reels. But most can't cast anyways! Bird's nests city half the time. They should just call it Hoover fishing.
As for this AB character, his name is sure getting out there isn't it. Before your head swells to the size of a watermelon AB, it's not in a good way. Indicators and lures/jigs! What a joke. You should be shot too. Where does one get off on putting together a contraption like that and still consider himself a flyfisherman. Not even remotely close. In fact, that is probably the farthest thing from flyfishing that there is.
Until one has mastered the true art of grease lining or dryfly fishing, you are not a true flyfisherman. I suspect there may be two or three on this board and that's it Period! This board shouldn't even have flyfishing in its name. Just the NCFB would be much more appropriate. I don't think I have to tell you what that stands for but with all the ignorance that is posted all day around here perhaps I shoud. NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FISHING BOARD that's all it has ever been!
