Real steelheaders 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Ok, so it looks like in the last couple of years, being a "steelheader" is all the rage. But can you really call yourself a real steelheader if you haven't caught one on a dry?

...didn't think so either.

no you don't have to be a purist or elitist to be a "real" head hunter.

Stay inside... never go fishing especially during winter... it sucks... don't go... There are definately no Steelhead in California rivers... You might as well go to Oregon.

You got it ALL wrong 17 Years, 6 Months ago
you have to use a 3wt. HELIOS spey rod AND a dry fly to be a REAL STEELHEADER.

Real Steelheaders wade wet and barefooted, cold water and rocks doesn't affect their manly legs.

Real Steelheaders refuse to bathe during steelhead season so they won't wash the "luck" off.

Real Steelheaders only use hair pulled off their back for dubbing, any other dubbing isn't worthy of being used.

Real Steelheaders must ALWAYS cast at least 110 feet, anything less means they need to head back to the casting pool and redeem their soul.

Re:Real steelheaders 17 Years, 6 Months ago
Are you open to modification of your definition to include steelheaders who are able to provide step-by-step tying directions (all 34 specific steps) for the only fly that works for them on a remote steelhead steam and, who can relate their 3-day experience on that stream in a minimum of 35,000 words spread over 17 posts?

Would that modification be cancelled or enhanced by Charlie's "fanatical liars" condition?

He never said anything about being an elitist or a purist. He was talking about catching a steelhead on a dry. Apparently you haven't done that yet and you feel threatened by the idea because you don't have the ability to do so and have decided to resort to name calling to make yourself feel better then the original poster. It's classic insecure behavior. When someone insecure feels threatened they tend to try and make the threat look less then it is by belittling that person in an attempt to knock them down to the level that the insecure person feels they are at themself.

So what you guys are saying... 17 Years, 6 Months ago
...is that everything goes, right?

Kinda like saying that as long as you get laid, even if you have to pay for it, you're still a "ladies man".

Hey Dries,

I haven't fished for or caught a steelie in a while, but the last time I caught one it was on a dry.
