I'm with you on that one Jim. I just don't have the time or inclination to learn a bunch of new computer crap. My real life doesn't give me the time to spend on it. I still think the board is a good thing and I do miss posting all the time but I just don't have the time to mess with it any more. I'll see ya at a Bash.

I've been away as well, but not so far away that I can't appreciate this place. There's too many good folks around here for that to happen. The folks I've met on this board are good campfire company and its been my pleasure to share a fair amount of time with many of them. I'd say get over it and ...

It ain't about the format. It's about the people. Type your information in the box and hit "post". Pretty much the same as the old place -- just looks different on th screen.

I have been hesitant in saying anything negative about the new board because I know Greg and others worked very hard to develope the new board. I have always appreciated what Greg and others have done and hope these comments are not taken as personal asaults.
First, Why did the board need to be changed? It was fun and easy and there were so many humerous posts. I do go by the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it.
I wonder if there was a survey as to old format vs. new how that would come out?
Does our opinion count?

A couple of things that really bug me are logging in it you want to view a profile.
I absolutly hate the new poster, jr. poster, expert poster, etc. thing.

There I have said my thing and will continue to read the board a couple of times a day but it just Ain't No Fun.

From a Jr. poster who has been reading and participating on this board since it's beginning over 10 years ago.

Well Janet, I'm new here (a Fresh Poster) so I can't speak about the change. But, on any board I've participated on over the last decade or so, having to be a registered member (logging in) to view member profiles is pretty standard this being for your own "safety" such as spam from the result of harvesting...

As to the ratings, well it's an ego thing. Kinda like your need to inform us that you've been a contributor for ten years...

Or... could it be difficult to understand why, after ten years around here, hundreds of posts, and even a few articles, Janet is now a "Fresh Poster"? It's not ego, it's just not an accurate reflection of 1996-2008.

If ego is not at issue, then why should length of time be important? Status, maybe?

Naw, couldn't be.....that goes back to "ego".

You obviously don't know Janet. I think she has probably forgotten more about fly fishing than you have learned yet. She doesn't have to have an ego, she is good and those who know her know that.

Re:What happened? 17 Years, 8 Months ago
Well, I really don't see what ego has to do with it at all, especially not in Janet's case. Accurate is just accurate -- that's all. However, none of this really affects anything. I'm not a moderator, and I'm not in charge of anything. I don't even like all the changes, myself. *shrug*

Great reaction, Charlie. Guess those emoticon thingies have no purpose....

I will say that much can be gleaned about a person how they respond or react.

I've been around these type of boards long enough to know that when posting counts are "lost" either by a crash or change the administrators can usually "update" them.

So Janet, when you see my response to your post, know that it was written "tongue in cheek". I couldn't find such an emoticon and used the "wink" instead; my bad. Please accept my sincere apology if I've offended you.

Sorry Dano if I offended you. But the question remains why you posted at all. I personally believe that the post counts have no place at a campfire, nor the little labels.
