A week or so ago, I took a journey to the east slope of the Sierra and fished a well known, but shall remain nameless stream, for a few days.
Was it cold? I dunno...what do you think?
There was a nice hatch of these every day around noon:
Which led to lots of these:
Consistent, rising fish for about two hours and then it more or less just shut off. The nymphing before and after the hatch was good, but not as good as when the hatch was on. The micro mayfly was a hot nymph and any small (18-24) BWO dry would work when the hatch was on.
A nice one...just waiting for the next hatch.
If you're gonna go, bring your snowshoes or CC Skis to get in. Enjoy!
