My 2010 NorCal steelhead season is over, and it WAS painful. I fished less than past years, exactly filling one SH card (30 days for the ignorant unwashed) and got my ass kicked on a number of streams. Bottom line is, I landed just under a fish a day. It was this autumn season that did me in. Perhaps I've been spoiled by successes on the Trinity the past 7 years. Perhaps I'm not as patient as I grow older. Perhaps the damned fish never showed up in decent numbers! Well, I did manage to learn a bit more about this incredible species this year; the learning never really stops. I can't wait for my winter season to begin in late January. I'm just hoping that the rivers aren't blown out like they were this past winter. This is one of my favorite shots from 2010 of an 8 pounder that had me running down an unnamed river.
