So, it's been a long time since I have posted anything so here goes. We have been in MT since May and I can probably count on two hands the number of times I have actually been out fishing. Work keeps getting in the way. This year has been pretty stranger weather with not much of a summer to speak of and fishing has been spotty at best. I have been bartending at a local resort and have listened to many of the guides complaining about the fishing this year. Seems that the dam break and work to fix it has been one of the main causes. Instead of the normal cold water flowing from Hebgen, the water is comming over the spillway and has raised the temp about 10 degrees higher than normal. Now that the weather has started to cool fishing has gotten a little more active but you really have to hunt. I actually got out twice in the last week and had pretty awesome days compared to the rest of the year. That actually means 10 to 12 fish this year in comparison to 20 to 30 fish days before. Most of my fish have been taken on VERY small nymphs. Anyway, nothing over 18" for me this season.
BTW, looks like it will take another 2 years to complete all of the work the fix the gates at Hebgen.
On a different subject, archery season has started and not an elk in site. We had our first grizzly attack on a hunter not far from here this past weekend. The guy survived with just a broken arm and lots of severe cuts to his head. Stalking through the trees in camo being stealthy is not always safe around here.
Sorry no fish pictures.
