Kiene's and Blanton's sites are smoking while this one is smoldering. Trout Underground is growing by leaps and bounds. 2010 has been an awesome fishing year! Our school site is getting more average daily visits than at any time, ever. People are at their keyboards looking for a place to visit - I don't think external factors like "poor fishing" are causing the decline of this board.

My personal reasons for seldom coming here are a) tedious navigation and b) lack of users/content. At this moment there is one person viewing this site (probably me). At the same time Bill is juggling between 64 and 88 viewers.

If this site were quick, clean, and butt-simple to navigate I think it would gain users, and with more users more interesting or germane content. My .02.

Re:Does anyone know 14 Years, 9 Months ago
Well, spent 5 days in norcal this past weekend. Fished Feather, Hat up by Lassen and Silver Fork of the American on Monday (Mon. was free fishing day, caught 2 and missed a bunch of strikes, and they was all FREE). Fishing was slow, probably because of the minor heat wave and warmer water. My brother hooked into a pretty large trout up by the long tunnel near Cresta on Feather (16" ?) but it broke him off or threw the hook right away (we were fishing legal with small barbless hooks). My first fish there, suprisingly, was a small bass about 8".

Tied a few flies for a friend up in Seattle area. He did pretty good over Labor Day weekend with those flies up on the Kettle R. about 1/2 mile below Canada border. Caught his biggest fish on a peacock trude I threw in the box as an afterthought. Feel pretty good about that!

I was right Carpy 14 Years, 9 Months ago
All I had to post was "OBAMA SUCKS" and look what happens, 50 replies, 1780 page views, MORE replies than all of the topic COMBINED for the last MONTH and more page views than all combined over the last 27 days. Proof that Obama Sucks? You be the judge.

Then Bob had to screw it up and post a fishing report. Now the whole place is gonna go to hell!

Live long and prosper! We miss 'ya Hud! (but we don't miss Skirt )

I don't contribute much to the traffic anymore. It's just not as exciting as it once was. I lurk occasionally though.

As for a fishing report, I don't have one: But I did see a rather large steelie hitting top water stuff on the A the other afternoon. It rose steady for the 10 minutes I happend to watch it. Too bad I was on a bike ride and not fishing. A much larger fish was flashing in the murk below it.

It says you are a moderator, you can find that info out? I haven't seen Greg post in ages. He would know. I would bet I use more bandwidth on my iPhone than this site uses a month now.

not much to moderate. I'm known to leave computers smoldering and in deep depression is just a few keystrokes. I'm not an administrator..

There is a Google Analytics module that is a Joomla extension. (Joomla is what this site is built on.) Someone with admin access could load it in a few minutes and give the URL to whomever. Nice way to monitor traffic. Even tells you where the taffic is coming from with maps and how they get there (direct access, search engine, whataever). All kinds of almost useful info.

Hi Dale,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Got side tracked.

I've been doing well. Last year was a bitch. Fell, hit the head hard, life flight to Chico for brain surgery, another surgery two months later, out of commission 5 months. But all the marbles are back in place now and life is great. Retired from the Forest Service, Work part time managing two websites for Feather Publishing. (Plumasnews.com) Learned a totally different skill set. Kinda fun and it keeps me out of trouble (part of the time). And I just started writing the Fishing Report for our 4 Plumas County newspapers. The research is a real challenge! LOL Its all fun.

How about you? still manage to hit the NFFR every week?

Be well,
Michael

Rest assured young Witchhopper that Mother Klamath is still Mother Klamath and has been continously providing the faithful with more than just the occasional "Kodak moment". 2005 and '06 were simply more glorious than was 2001. That certain "rip-rap" laden rif which was the ONLY place you needed to be in 2001 washed out around '03 and simply quit producing the epic numbers of fish that it was kicking out from 1999-'01. BUT the long tongue between BB and upper Shang-ri-la filled in and was wadeable and you could cross it if you were daring and was kicking out even more fish until '05. Last year the high water in the winter really rearranged the entire river and ALL the storied rifs between Johnson's and IC from Stewart's to LD down to 1/2 mile and even that submerged island at Ullathorne reappeared simply fished so perfectly that nearly no mending was required on the greaseline.
