From Tuolomne Meadows try fishing up either branch of the river. The Dana Fork is close to the road, but the Lyell Fork is often the better choice for wild and willing little rainbows, some even 8" to 10" or bigger if you're lucky. It's an easy walk along a heavily traveled trail, but very few fly fishers. A 3wgt or 4wgt is all you'll need along with the usual flies--they take dries with gusto. This year there's still probably plenty of water. Don't know about downstream from the Meadows--haven't tried it.
Hope this helps.
