heading to MT, need a recommendation 14 Years, 11 Months ago

Hey guys, I'll be in Dillon, Mt from Aug 10-16. I've already booked a couple of float trips on the Beaverhead and the Ruby rivers, and one day at a private ranch about 1.5 hours drive from Dillon. I want to round out my week with visiting some public access sites that don't require a boat to reach fish. Anyone familiar with the Dillon area, feel free to share your recommendations.
thanks,
Dave

I think from Dillon you can reach the Big Hole for good wade fishing. I stayed in Wise River one summer, which is North on 15, then NW on 43. Lots of good water. Or pop up 41 then over to 287 to the Madison near Ennis. Check out the Jefferson as well.

Carpy, Greg and Dawn all shared a campsite on the Big Hole several years ago. Our spot was right on the river and really nice. We even caught quite a few (for us) fish and had a grand time. We took the exit just north of Dillon to go towards Wise River and the campground was just across the river on the West side.
