Joey, my brother Pete & I headed to fish the Provo on July 1. We went with our friend Mike from GBF in search of the Green Drakes. We pretty much committed to fishing dries and the drake cripples proved to be the most effective pattern. We were a little early and the hatch improved each day. The fishing was much better than we experienced last year but we still did not quite time it right. It was scary how big some of the fish were that I move or missed. We fished around the town of Heber and drove back to SLC each night.
4 Seasons and Western Anglers were the shops we visited for flies and lies. Everyone was sticking some quality fish yet I missed many opportunities and you only get one chance. We fished some new water and did some bush whacking and got nailed by mosquitoes. There are some nice trails used by the locals which go around the swaps and beaver dams. We started to get dialed into the trails. We stayed and extra day on the 4th and the hatch started to come into shape and fish were keying in on the drakes. Did not get a lot of pictures this trip as we split into groups and my brother muffed every picture opportunity.

Fish On

While we were fishing dries for dinks Joey decided to fish streamers on his floating line. He stuck 4 fish and broke off a few. Pete and I also switched and we also got a fish on a streamer. So if you hit the Provo some time Don't forget to throw some streamers.

Streamer Brown

We pretty much committed to throwing dries and droppers but there was some good nymphing water that held some big fish cause I missed them all on dries. Overall it was a good trip but the drive to SLC each night got old so we will be looking for some closer camping opportunities.

Tight Lines,

Jet
