I made a spur of the moment trip to Manzanita Lake. Fished a full day Thursday and half a day on Friday. I hadn't fished this lake in 20 years, so Thursday was spent exploring and trying different methods. The bottom line: I landed a few browns each day on an olive/brown bugger on a 10' sink tip. I ran into an old friend from the Santa Lucia Fly Fishers who caught about twice as many as I did using the same methods and flies. The callibaetes hatch wasn't really on yet, and few fish were rising. I saw very few fish caught indicator nymphing. By the way, the owners of the camp store are putting in cabins that will be ready by next year. The fishing should improve over the next few weeks. With all of the high stream flows this is a good place to go now. I guess I picked a good time to go. When I got home I opened the latest issue of FF mag and there's an article on Manzanita. Bernard, If you're reading this hope you had some good fishing! Mike
