GOOF I 15 Years ago
GOOF 1 went off without a hitch. Those who showed up, 19 of us, all had a fine time, ate some great food, got in a little fishing, and I don't know, nor do I care, who was the "last man/woman standing". I went to bed. Stories were told and lies were lied (we're fisherpersons afterall) and no one became obnoxious or rude.

I'd call it a success. Will have another next year.

On a sad note, Ed K advised that he had heard from a guide that another old friend, Dave Brown, Janet's husband, had passed away this week. Hats off and a toast was rendered. He was a great guy full of great fishing lore and willing to share. He will be missed.

The chili was excellent, so was the backstrap, thank you!

"Rivers course through my dreams, rivers cold and fast, rivers well-known and rivers nameless, rivers that seem like ribbons of blue water twisting through wide valleys, narrow rivers folded in layers of darkening shadow, rivers that have eroded down deep in a mountain's belly, sculpted the land, peeled back the planet's history exposing the texture of time itself."
— Harry Middleton (Rivers of Memory)

"Each night as I haul myself onto the back of county garbage truck no. 2, there is a familiar wind, some thread of moonglow or starlight, a splatter of dark rain on my skin, something that stirs my memory, and again, if even for a brief moment, I am on some mountain river, some stretch of bright water, full of possibilities, including the possibility of trout, perhaps one that, when hooked, will haul me in and out of time, in and out of life's mysterious and frightening, wondrous and incomprehensible continuum, even to the edges of the universe." -- Harry Middleton

Charlie, many thanks for taking the lead and getting us together. Ann and I had a wonderful time. The food, of course, was up to your usual high standards. The companionship is to be cherished. We stayed through Sunday, and we even caught some fish.

Today it's laundry and cleaning and stowing the camping gear.

Talk to you later about volunteer opportunities.

Cheers,
Harlan and Ann

Despite the fact that Ned and I did not get there until after 8 PM on SAT, [we were fishing!] we had a great time. Missed out on the backstrap, but there was some mighty tasty grilled red meat left. Thanks for that, and also thanks to El Rey and Anne for letting Ned and I crash on their grass in Campsite 62.

We left Sunday AM after a nice shared breakfast with Charlie, Patti, Paul, Mary, and Keith, and made it back to Kings Canyon by supper.

Home Monday night for Scouts, and now packing for Colorado.

Even though we there only a few hours, it was a great time! I had a great time seeing everyone, catching up with folks, and enjoying the wonderful grub. Hopefully next year I will get some fishing in. I can't wait until the next one!

GOOF??!! Ya, right... 15 Years ago
It was a Bash, and a bigger Bash then the Bash One and about the same size as Bash 2. One thing I did miss was seeing everyone kids. Joey was the token minor, but he is a young man and was seen dring a truck on some unmentioned back roads in Shasta County.

It was great visiting with old friend and catching up, but new faces were lacking. The sad note was the passing of one of the orginal Bashers

Good time with good friends, present,,,, and past.
