Nymphs, cripples, emergers and duns...
I hear MONTANA calling
Stillwater River, near Nye, MT...in a misting rain, extended hatch PMD weather...
PMD Cripple
HOOK: TMC 2487 or Daiichi 1130, #16-#18
THREAD: Gordon Griffith’s 14/0 Sheer, Black or Brown
TAIL: Partridge fibers
RIB: x-sm Wapsi, Gold
ABDOMEN: Pheasant tail fibers
THORAX: Stalcup’s PMD Dub
WING: Costal Deer Hair, natural, clipped to represent burst shuck, fanned in front
This pattern may also include Ginger hackle tied between the shuck and wing.I like this particular fly for slower water…the fanned wing helps to hold it stable and upright…
PMD Crippled Emerger
HOOK: TMC 100. Daiichi 1100, #16-#18
THREAD: Gordon Griffith’s 14/0 Sheer, Dark Brown
TAIL: 3 Rusty Brown Ostrich Herl Fibers
RIB: x-sm Wapsi wire, Gold
ABDOMEN: Rusty Brown Ostrich Herl, twisted and wrapped
THORAX: Fine and Dry PMD Dub
HACKLE: Ginger
WING: Tan Coastal Deer Hair, angled forward
An excellent cripple pattern. I use this on the Madison…ummm, just around here

now if this kid would just get out of the way)
My son, Michael, just below the "Honey Hole", at $3,00 Bridge, Madison River...
