burney 15 Years, 2 Months ago
I'm thinking of meeting friends up in the Burney area this weekend. I usually avoid opening weekend but the socializing seems fun. I've never fished the area and wondered if anyone has any tips for this time of year for Baum and Hat or any other creeks in the area. Prefer to concentrate on Hat with Baum as a fill in. I can bring my inflatable kayak for Baum, but di I really need an anchor?

Recommend to stay home and wait for another weekend?

Thanks

Bring some humble pie if you go to Hat - I always eat some.

Don't need an anchor at Baum, unless you want to be able to hold a good position - I'd bring one.

Don't overlook Burney Creek.

And Ed is right on. Hat often requires a bit of humble pie. Beautiful, but not easy. (Hmmmm....I dated a woman like that! And then married her.) And an anchor in Baum could be helpful as there is a slow current through it. And another suggestion for Hat...you might want to bring your own rock. The snow fed streams are high and off color. The spring fed creeks like Hat will get more use than even a normal opener.

Thanks for the responses. I'll be going up tomorrow after an early meeting. And without high expectations. They don't call fishing, catching, for nothing.
