I'm going to pick this new house, I want one I don't have to work on! I want to find one WITH a big basement, I hate crawling under houses. I have her talked into moving to Oregon, Salem area hopefully, I would rather drive 500 miles north than 500 miles south!

I saw those picks of Shane and his bass, he sure is getting big!

I think so too!

What is "funny" about is the cars. You would think the cars with expired tags would be beat up old cars, but they're not, it's mostly expensive newer cars, Escalades, Beemers, MBZ, SUVs, and VANS. I was sitting at a signal in Fairfield yesterday and all three cars I could see the plates of were expired. I could of gotten a triple! There is so many it isn't even funny. Santa Rosa is the worst place I've seen so far.

Did you see this in the news DFG regs:

All Central Valley anadromous waters that are listed as "closed to salmon fishing and no take and possession of salmon" in the district or special regulations are also closed to any catch and release fishing that results in hooking or attempting to hook a salmon.
As a reminder, Section 1.80 defines take as "Hunt, pursue, catch, capture or kill fish, amphibians, reptiles, mollusks, crustaceans or invertebrates or attempting to do so."
There will be no allowance for any catch and release fishing that targets salmon when the river or stream is closed to salmon fishing.

It is about time they closed that loophole. The flossers and beaders used to hammer the spring run salmon in the Feather and the Yuba.

All wild Steelhead are now CPR (catch, photo, release)

Waters that are barbless, artificial lures only... no scented lures, rubber worms or additives are allowed either.

I was going to stay out of this but just because the sticker is not on the plate does not mean the car is not updated. You would have to run the plate to determine current registration. Those stickers can come off and believe it or not people do steal those stickers so that they do not have to pay registration. Most people don't pay any attention to their sticker once it is on so it is an easy target for theft. The solution is to use a razor blade and cut the sticker so that if it gets peeled off it is in pieces.

I sat on jury trial where a guy was arrested for having a stolen sticker and for fleeing from police. The charge carries a penalty of up to a year in jail.

Yep, vehicles must be registered and the proper tabs (month and year) must be displayed...it would be appropriate to have both violations (4000a & 5204a) of the California Vehicle Code on a citation if the driver or owner couldn't produce evidence of current registration (like a valid registration certificate) and, if the driver or owner doesn't have a valid registration certificate in the vehicle, well, just add 4454 to the list of violations.

If a conscientious officer contacts the driver of a vehicle from which the current tab has been stolen or "fallen" from the license plate, the driver should be relieved ant thankful to be notified so that they could correct the condition and be in compliance. On the other hand, if the violator is a !@#$%^&*( scofflaw who is trying to swindle the taxpayers of California by not paying the registration fees, then the corrective action resulting from receiving a citation will provide funds for road maintenance, law enforcement, and other necessary state functions that are a benefit to society.

Not having a current sticker in the proper place IS a violation in itself, whether you are current or not. My mom's old Toyota expired in December, she parked outside (because her garage was full of crap- another long story) and she didn't want to go out and get wet putting the sticker on, so she procrastinated. A Santa Rosa PO wrote her a citation for it. $90 ticket back 10+ years ago. She called me almost every year after that to put her sticker on.

You need to sit in traffic court for an hour. It will scare the daylights out of you. The reason they don't have current tags on their vehicles, is because they don't have insurance, or have suspended licenses. Do you think they are going to pay their registration? I think not. They are the same people that don't buy fishing licenses, either. They live in the "grey area", "don't get caught".

California Sees Significant Increase in Number of Uninsured Motorists

Uninsured motorists are getting to be a growing problem in California as the state sinks deeper into a recession, the Los Angeles Business Journal reports in this article. According to a new study from the Insurance Research Council, California will likely rise above the 2007 uninsured motorist rate of 18 percent. By 2010, the study estimates that one in six drivers in California will be uninsured. Experts attribute the rise in uninsured motorists to the economic downturn.

So, who is the most affected by this phenomenon? Responsible drivers who purchase insurance are the ones who end up paying for injuries caused by uninsured drivers. The Council estimated that the number of uninsured motorists actually decreased nationally from 14.9 percent in 2003 to 13.8 percent in 2007. California ranked seventh at 18 percent. New Mexico was the worst with 29 percent uninsured drivers while Massachusetts the best at 1 percent. The number of uninsured drivers is usually related to the unemployment rates. As unemployment increases, so does the percentage of people who drive without car insurance. Based on current unemployment rates nationally, the percentage of uninsured motorists is expected to go over 16 percent in 2010.

Let it go. This started off as a post that was at least somewhat fishing related, but you choose to morph it into a discussion about vehicle registration. There may be a forum out there somewhere where you will find more people interested., so go find it…….or better yet go out and take some more pictures to prove whatever point it is you are trying to make. Maybe the CHP will pull you over and you can give them credit for doing their job. There are rules against texting and talking while driving, there must be some way they can get you for being stupid enough to take pics while driving.
