Awesome day today on the Fall. Hit the river with my good friend Terry this afternoon for a couple of hours......any more and we would have froze! 3 inches of fresh snow on the ground walking into a favorite run. Midges and small black caddis on top, PT's and buggers underneath were the ticket. There was a minor midge hatch, along with a black skating Caddis. Caught several rainbows in the 16-18" range. And a bunch of smaller brookies. About 4:00 I called cold and we headed back to the warmth of the truck. It was about 25 degrees, and my hands were regretting not taking Terry up on his offer of a handwarmer. Fortunately, a couple of swigs of Single Malt warmed things a little bit. Back to the house in front of a warm fire by 4:30.
Tomorrow the Crooked for Christmas Eve. Gotta tie up a bunch of eggs in the morning. Hopefully Santa will have left us a good hatch!
