Truckee Report 16 Years, 4 Months ago
Fished the Truckee yesterday. This was only the third time I've fished it. The weather was great, the flows were low and the pressure wasn't too bad. Saw 5 other anglers on the stretch we fished. I got most of my fish on a dry/dropper set up with a #16 Gordon Prince. Landed a few on a standard nymph rig with a #14 Eng Theng and #16 BHPT. Caught 3 on streamers... I'm still trying to figure out streamers, so it was good to have a little encouragement. Two browns and one bow on the streamer, with the bow running about 15" and being my largest on the day. One of the browns came from a smaller pocket and he came up and sipped the streamer like a dry fly... that was cool.

A good day. My fishing partner for the day had a tough start, but we finished just about level for fish landed. No complaints either way.

There was a mixed hatch of mayflies, one about a #14, one about #18, but very few noses poking up.

Wind wasn't too bad. Grabbed the wrong waders as I was heading out and ended up fishing with very wet feet all day. Thank goodness it wasn't cold.

Here are the pics...
