Hit Upper Klamath/Agency Lake this past weekend. We launched on Friday about 12:00 and got fishing about 1:00 at the mouth of the Wood. Rob hooked up almost immediately, and a little while later I hooked a nice fish. Rob's was about 24", mine about 22". We fished this area for another hour or so and then moved a little ways down the lake. We landed 4 more ranging from 24" to 29". The fish in this lake are few and far between, but huge. Caught fish primarily on an Olive Seal Bugger, one of Denny Rickards patterns. Kept one fish that did not recover after a valiant battle. I don't normally keep fish, but this one never recovered, so was left with no choice. It will be dinner tonite.
Saturday we hit Pelican Bay near Rocky Point Resort. Tough fishing with 2 fish to net over the course of the day, but they were pigs. Casting right against the tules near several springs was the ticket for a 28" and a 26" fish. We ventured deep into the refuge along the canoe trail, but never found any more fish and called it a day about 6:00. Headed to Merrill and stayed with a friend on his ranch.
Sunday morning we decided to relax, have a big breakfast at Pappy Gander's and tour the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge. Was a wonderful experience. We saw hundreds of waterfowl broods, most with 8-12 or more ducklings. Appears to have been a heck of a hatch, and excellent survival. Habitat conditions in the basin are the best I've seen due to the late spring rains.
Great weekend trip!
