Picked up a report earlier this week that a friend fished the Hex at Almanor. Light hatch on the evening he was there. Picked up several nice fish, however.

A group from our club was up there for a week and hit the areas that you mentioned. Mostly caught em on neutral buoyant hex nymphs on intermediate lines. Evening hatch wasn't even discussed, but the variety of fish caught was. Smallies were pretty beefy to their length. One fella was declared the hard head pro for his particular catch and another for netting a pair of kissing catfish. no fly was involved with the latter.

I managed to get out a couple nights. The hatch seemed lighter than normal or perhaps the timing was different this year. The catching seemed light also. I had one LDR and left with that blasted skunk smell. It wasn't just me. There were plenty others fishing and I saw hardly any fish caught.
