I was up a couple of weekends ago just when the flows had dropped (though still higher than mid summer) & it was fishing really well. It looks to be flowing at about 450-470 according to CDEC. I had a screen & there were tons of yellow & black stones in about a size 18. These and a prince nymph produced a number for me during the day (also a wooley bugger with flash stripped through the deep pools pulled in a couple of bigger ones). At dusk a parachute adams seemed best - there were some caddis (not many) but there may be more now. I'm sure a comparadun would work too.

I fished the NC and between Ah-di-nah & the NC. There were more people at the campgrounds than I have seen in the past ten years so I made sure to get up early to get an NC spot to avoid the crowds. I camped near the NC as the improved campground was full up even with getting there at 6pm on a Friday which usually would have a spot open. By Saturday every camping spot I passed was occupied.

Good luck.

Paul

your lucky being down there, the public sections are worthless do to crowds right now. there will be caddis hatching, some PMD's and PED's as well as some yellow quills, green drakes coming off in low numbers around four. as for stones yellow sallies, goldens, and last week still salmonflies around. what does this mean, fish a big adams during the day(10) and a small one in the evening(16). pocket water has had a ton of fish. high sticking with a stone and a small pt behind it is working great, tie some soft hackle pt's...stones I use 8-10 some light colored, some dark, keep it simple. same flies for deep dragging pools, some nice fish hiding deep, but I would target the deepest craziest pocket water.
