Bill and Danas Bash report (part 1) 16 Years, 8 Months ago
Howdy Folks,

Here is part 1 of my report, a little narrative to get things started as it seemed my files and/or number of pictures was too large to work.

Dana and I really did enjoy seeing old friends after missing the bash last year for the first time since becoming a member of this board. First I will get the fishing report out as it will be short and sweet for me <g>. Dana and I got out for only a few hours Saturday on Baum lake with the Kayaks. There were a number of fish doing their thing but I was not doing the right thing and not able to connect with them.

I watched Flys4b8T stick a number of fish from his anchored craft and he did help me get set up with the appropriate nymphing system so that I finally did hook a couple but never actually got one to hand. Thanks for your help there Michael! I am still learning the best way to fish out of a kayak and unfortunately did not have my anchor with me so I was having trouble controlling my location and drifts. Sounds like a good excuse doesn’t it <g>. Dana and I did at least enjoy a great little paddle on Baum.

Part 2 will be some of the initial photos

Howdy Folks,

Here is part 3 of my report.

We left Baum kind of early to get back to camp for the evening potluck and WOW it was wonderful to say the least. My sincere compliments to all the chefs as the food was just awesome and lots of it. The biggest challenge is to not get yourself so stuffed that you have no room to try all the goodies that were there. The raffle was fun and there were a lot of great prizes passed out, unfortunately Dana and I did not have any lucky tickets but it was good to see the board do so well.

Culanns hounds did a fabulous job of providing some great toe tapping Irish music for our listening pleasure after the dinner. Ed, please pass on our sincere thanks to Michael and the band for coming a long ways for our listening pleasure. As a member of a band myself I know what a challenge it is for a band to make that kind of trip. I enjoyed getting a chance to catch up and chat a little with Michael as well. Right now I am enjoying listening to One for the Road and also look forward to listening to Year of the Dog as well.

2nd group of pictures!

Some of the lucky folks getting ready for the Raffle and Bash Potluck!

More lucky folks getting ready for the raffle and great food!

GM and the Northern California Fly Fishing Board Banner!

One more part coming, pictures from Lassen to come!

Hi Folks,

Last part of our post a few pictures taken on our way back to Sac through lassen national Park

Sunday morning was a nice leisurely morning for Dana and I as we slowly packed, had a nice breakfast before saying our Goodbyes. Sorry we missed you Charlie, Dana and I look forward to catching up with you and Patti on our next trip to Ukiah before you get out of there. Thanks for all the great stories and jokes around the campfire! Dana and I took the route home going through Lassen National Park and it was beautiful. We ran into Stan and Keith from our group there who had the same idea. We made it back home around 6, got unloaded, things pretty much put away and then crashed.

Best wishes and tight lines to all!

3rd and last group of pictures from Lassen!

Manzanita Lake on the Drive home !

Great report Bill. Sorry I couldn't make it.....under the weather.

Marveling at how you were able to post that many pictures and not get the Board to crash. Great touch!

Hey Phil,

Glad you enjoyed the post and sorry you couldn't be with us. As always, its a lot of fun to see everybody and catch up on things . There are some really nice folks on this board.

Regarding the number of pictures, it definitely took some trial and error and of course splitting things up to get everything up there I wanted to. I used the preview button a lot like Buzz suggested and it worked good to tell me when it was going to work.

Best Wishes!

Bill

Sweet pictures Bill. Did you compress them before posting? What sizes were they?

Hey Dustin,

I did cut these pictures down in size. Using photoshop I used the image size adjustment option to make the document maximum size dimension 6 inches (usually ended up about 4 by 6's) with a resolution of about 72 pixels per inch. That would generally give me a jpeg file size around 100 kb. This also relates to pixel dimensions (400ish by 300ish) pixels which I know is related to the size as well.

Dana is the photographer and she showed me how to do this and it generally works so I stick with it. Prior to doing that, Those pictures are really huge, 3 plus megabytes and x??x pixels , and obviously would never fit. Even with those adjustments I had trouble getting things to fit to be shown and that is why I ended up with 4 parts to the report. I may experiment next time with reducing the size down to 3 by 5's with 72 pixels per inch.
