I went up into the high country this last weekend. The weather report called for only a 30% chance of rain on Saturday. Once again I was reminded that their guess isn't any better than mine. It was cold (44 degrees), rainy, but the fishing was great. There were caddis husks all over the place, making me think that I had just missed a remarkable hatch.
I kept seeing a nice size fish rising in relatively the same area about 30 yards downstream from me and decided I was going to target him. After an hour and a half, and hundreds of casts utilizing just about everything in the box, I finally got him on a size 12 red ant.
I've caught many rainbows in this stream. This was the first brown. What a treat! (hopefully the picture attaches)
