2 bass on a fast troll 16 Years, 11 Months ago
Friday evening I went to Melones after work for the last 2 hrs of fishin with my
new pontoon float tube. I had a intermidiate sink line with a white clouser on. I was playing with the hand held GPS to see how fast the 28lb thrust trolling motor would take me. I almost can do 3 mph, wow thats flyin...

Anyway I was going between 2 to 2.5 mph and got 2 hits.. the first one fell off but the second I landed...
A small Large mouth...

That was it for the evening, so being fishin was slow for me I was taking lots of pictures.

The lupin was going crazy around the lake... they were thick.

Table top Mountain

The boat ramp

The best treat of the evening was, 2 Ospreys chasin off an imature Bald Eagle ( I think) away from their nest.

It was a nice evening.

Hey Dave,

Great pics, thanks for sharing ! I actually got out to Folsom Lake this last week for my first outing of the year! I also caught one small bass about the same size as the one you got. Forgot my camera so no pics from me . It was still great to get out. Sure looking forward to retiring at the end of this year !

Best Wishes!

Haven't posted in awhile. Fished a valley bass pond east of Merced on Friday. We never got in the water. Bass (males?) were in the shallows on beds, so we sight fished with frog patterns early morning. Switched to dragon fly nymphs and then to adult dragon flies and crawfish patterns when we saw dragons on the water. Fish responded to all patterns and naturals mentioned. We're going back with the same patterns and strategy when we fish with Ken Hanley, Al Smatsky (Excellent Adventures) and Chef John Ryzanich (the Softex dude) in two weeks, a NCCFFF Hall of Fame auction item from last October. Ken is doing good and he'll carpool out with us. I'll pass along any stories that can be recalled- the short term memory is going though, so will have to resort to a camera. I already promised Ken to have a carafe of strong coffee for the ride to the ponds- that'll loosen him up faster than liquor. A good time is promised by all. It will definitely be a hoot.

That's not one of those pay to play ponds is it? How long does it take you to get there?
Hmmm... I think I should check Don Pedro soon... I bet the bass will be in the shallows, if they aren't there allready.
