I know it may be too early to fish up there but does anyone have any information regarding if the lake is fishable or is it still iced over.

The last actual report I got was from the first week of February and is obviously useless, but back then they were still ice-fishing with 10 to 12 inches of ice. If my questionable memory serves me right, Davis is normally ice free by the end of April, with some limited fishing opportunities before then. I do know that 2 of the 3 campgrounds remain closed until late April.
Personally, I'd wait a bit. The weather up there can change pretty quickly, as many of us who got snowed on in June a few years ago can attest to.

She is still pretty much iced over. If you need to wet a line you might want to give Frenchman's a try - I've heard pretty good reports and she's ice free.

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.
