Due to the overwhelming response (thanks Harry) I will now reveal the answer you have all been burning to know. Hat Creek is the only creek in the U.S, to have a river as a tributary. The Rising River joins Hat at Cassel. Just returned from my annual desert trip. Cactus flowers were just getting started down in Anza-Borrego. The Ocotillo were really beautiful. Tent camping in Death Valley is a little rough with 60 mph wind gusts. Especially if you like sleeping at night. Glad I rigged up a bed in the SUV even though it did rock a bit.
