Update - Great Steelheaders Gathering
In talking to Frank Bertaina, I just learned that he and the Russian River Wild Steelhead Society came up against the buzz saw of the vast bureaucracy of people that have liquor licenses, the ABC’s 1-day licenses, and even the insurance companies. Instead of having you pay for your own drinks, drinks and wine are now included for only a $40 donation in advance and $50 at the door until they run of allowable space (about 100 outside guests max). Includes hors d’oeuvres, full dinner, adult beverages, and desert. At these prices Frank may wind up personally paying for a lot of it.
View antique fly fishing gear, presentations, photos, and DVDs of the immortals on the Russian and Eel. Guest Speakers include Lani Waller and Russell Chatham. There’s also a sneak preview of the Rivers of A Lost Coast video with all our friends, you’ll learn about efforts to save the few wild Russian River steelhead that are still left, and Frank has a lot more planned. Come and lift a glass with Lani, Russ, Frank, Jim Adams, Hal Janssen, and other veteran steelheaders. No fund raising.
The Saturday night event starts at 4:00 p.m. at Russian River Sportsman Club, 25150 Steelhead Boulevard, Duncans Mills, CA 95430 (707) 865-9429 (off Moscow Rd which is off Hwy-116). Lodging is mostly at the Northwood Lodge in Monte Rio (www.northwood-lodge.com).
