Okay, I know I don't post much anymore so it was important to me to remember to do this tonight. I know a lot of you fish Pyramid and being that next weekend is the last weekend the nets will be open, I wanted to post so here it is.
A buddy of mine and I went today. We fished the south nets. We didn't arrive until about 10:00 a.m and fished until nearly dark. It was busy and every but us caught fish all morning. We were the only two in tubes. We spent the morning beyond the ladder line up. We fished in 8'-10' of water 50 yards beyond the ladders and although we used the same bugs, we caught zero and they were very regular catching fish on black buggers, white/chartruse beatles, white/pink beatles and flashy peacock buggers from the ladders.
At 3:00 p.m. we went in for lunch and I was the first one back out. Frustrated with the early day fishing for me, I paddled out to the line at 4:15 p.m. and anchored in line with the ladders. Determined to break the bugger trend (everybody on the line was using buggers and beatles) I decided to use an indicator. I parked in 5' of water and had a #16 Prince about 6' under my indicator trailed by a #16 Brassie another 8" down. My second cast I caught a fish. Shortly after, my buddy arrived and on his first cast, caught a fish on a chartruse bugger. So went the remainder of the night. We quit 2 hours later and we each had 7 fish, all in those 2 hours. The folks around us, mind you, like they had all day, continued to catch fish as well. We were as good or better than anyone else this evening, though.
So, there you have it, my first report in a year or two. I'm an awfully busy guy these days and do not frequent this board as I once did. That said, I still come here for information from time to time and it seems only right to remember to reciprocate.
Remember next weekend is the last weekend to fish the nets until May 15. Word has it two fish over 10 pounds were caught on the south end today and one on the north end. The pic is of a nice fish my buddy caught that I snapped a picture of today.
