Posting Error - Please Read 17 Years ago
Well, we are narrowing down some of the causes of the recurrent posting error that some of us have experienced and swore at over the past several months. Greg expanded the posting length criteria on the Board to enable larger posts, and that may have solved some of the problem. In the process he gave a few of us a history lesson, and Ed helped change the course of history by correcting a spelling error that has existed since 1776. Additionally, Greg did a refresh of some watchmathingy in the database that may also help. However, Buzz successfully broke it again.....thanks Buzz! So we are still working on the issue. Now I know why so many software engineers take up drinking at a young age! Thanks for the assist Greg!

However, we did figure a way to still enable review of a thread, excepting the single offending post. If you use the Threaded version on the Board, you will be able to view all posts within a thread, except the one causing the problem. For those of you using Flat View, you can either permanently change by updating your profile, or you can change from flat to threaded view by clicking on the "Threaded View" link on the second black menu line from the top when viewing the forum. This will change the view on the screen to look more like the "old Board". Many of you already opt for that option, so were propably wondering what the hulabaloo was about. In any event, that's the latest.

If anybody has any further questions or needs assistance, please don't hesitate to ask me or any other steering committee member. If we can't answer honestly, we'll make up a story that our most recent catch was at least 22" and took a size 32 BWO barbless on 10X tippet after hooking the fish on a seam 70' away in fast water while casting a 2 weight in heavy wind. The fish was finally landed after an epic 30 minute battle. So that's our story and we are sticking to it!

By the way, Phil, I still get the white screen of death when I try to look at Your 'Appears' post. Have ever since I put up a short reply with two or three smiley's in it.

Cheers!

Just noticed another 'clue' there were way more than two responses to that post. Charlie J and I were lamenting the fact that Dawn was going to come and try to take over the LHS contest.

Just another indicator, I suppose.

Hmmmmm. Yes, another clue. Your post in that thread is "broken". I can read Charlie's from threaded view. Unsure why. Once we figure that out, we'll have it nailed.

Phil,

Yeah - there were at least three or four posts following the broken one.

Thge broken one is one where I alleged that the folks cooming were no competition at all - then Carpy signed on with a FMD challenge and we went back and forth then Dawn hit the sign up post, and I lemented the fact that there was some real competition and Charlie J and I had a couple rounds - must have been a dozen or more posts that are missing.

Good luck.

and The broken post was readable for two or three days before the thread got broken - it seems likely a later post busted the whole thing.
