Van Duzen fishability for next week? 17 Years, 1 Month ago
Hello All
Heading up North for some steelhead action anyone know of where to get up to date info on van duzen river conditions, i know it clears relatively quickly but it's been raining up there for days. Thanks.

It was chocolate and blown out a few days ago.
More rain from a tropical feed on tap for the weekend. Very few fish this year on the coast (Mad the best bet, but mostly hatchery fish, but it will be blown for sure).
I'm freaked on the small returns.

Reports all up and down the coast are "few fish". Could be a really bad season with a resulting like season 3-5 years down the road.

I always heard that the "dirty D" cleared very slowly due to a massive slide higher up in the watershed. From what I know it is one of the longest free-flowing rivers in the state which means there are many feeder streams that contribute to the flows/turbidity.

Before the recent rains there were reports of good fishing on the main-stem Eel...So maybe the Van Duzen got another shot of some fresh fish?

I think it's quick to dirty-up and slow to clear, so it might not be the best bet, especially now with flows around 2500 cfs. The SF Eel seems to be a good late-season fishery though...
