Anyways here are some pics and video from a backpacking trip I took w/ iceman back in august. Fished along the Lyell fork and tuolumne river in Yosemite. All dry fly action. All beautiful country.

Beefy lyell brooke trout

check out this big guy sittin to the left of your screen. Couldn't catch him.

nice bow iceman caught out of a 50 foot deep pool below a waterfall. on a dry fly at that!

tuolumne brown

lyell fork in the evening. risers everywhere for the 2 hours before dark... had to be stealthy though. They truly can feel you walking along the banks.

lyell fork in the day

Here is a link to a video. Small stream near the tuolumne. brooke trout up to 12 inches.

Great post, Sammy.

It's been too many years since I've been up the Lyell fork (with or without a paddle!).
I have spent most of my time down below the Meadows on the trail to Glen Aulin. I think that will change this year.

With all of the fun things in fly fishing, there's hardly anything more fun than watching a fish roar up from the bottom of a deep pool to take your fly off the surface.

And nothing more disheartening than setting the hook too early!

I didn't know you'd been watching me fish...not that I ever ever pull the fly right out of a fish's mouth. No, never.

There's something about those deep-dweller grabs. It is almost impossible to see the fish going for your fly from that far down and be able to resist setting the hook too soon. Adrenaline or something. I'm surprised your percentage is that high!

It's called premature setting. My girlfriend says it's ok and that it happens to a lot of guys.

Yeah, we guys are visually stimulated. In this case we need to be more like the women and wait for the fish to TOUCH the fly!
