Hatches Magazine 17 Years, 3 Months ago
Any thoughts on this publication? Looks like they only have a couple issues a year. We currently receive Fly-Tyer and FlyFisherman. Joey is getting into the fly tying thing and I was considering trying it out. Don't tell anyone but he reads Fly-Tyer in the "Jon". He's tying those crease flies for LM and Stripers after reading the article. They want about $6 a piece for them at the shops.

Thanks,

Jet

I like fly rod and reel best. Between the John G. articles and flies by A.K. Best every issue I'm hooked.

I have only read a few hatches mags and they were always free older copies from shops.

I'm down to only two magazine subcriptions these days. One is California Fly Fisher and the other is Hatches.

"Rivers course through my dreams, rivers cold and fast, rivers well-known and rivers nameless, rivers that seem like ribbons of blue water twisting through wide valleys, narrow rivers folded in layers of darkening shadow, rivers that have eroded down deep in a mountain's belly, sculpted the land, peeled back the planet's history exposing the texture of time itself."
— Harry Middleton (Rivers of Memory)

"Each night as I haul myself onto the back of county garbage truck no. 2, there is a familiar wind, some thread of moonglow or starlight, a splatter of dark rain on my skin, something that stirs my memory, and again, if even for a brief moment, I am on some mountain river, some stretch of bright water, full of possibilities, including the possibility of trout, perhaps one that, when hooked, will haul me in and out of time, in and out of life's mysterious and frightening, wondrous and incomprehensible continuum, even to the edges of the universe." -- Harry Middleton

ever check out "The Drake" mag ??
Nice change from the same old "How to fish a two fly rig", or "how to make a reach cast" or "how to tie this caddis pupa" articles.

Interesting reading, a bit off the everyday norm, and great photos. Not a boring mag.

Gotta love the price "Five Bucks.....Ten Bucks for Bait Fishermen"
