Foul Actions by NCFFB Moderator Uncovered! 17 Years, 4 Months ago

WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS ON A FULL STOMACH!
I met a bespectacled gal with a notepad walking along the Trinity last weekend. She identified herself as being an undercover reporter with the Fly Fishing Tattler, and she had the scoop of the century.
While hiding in the bushes near the DC Bridge, she espied one Buzz Natzke, rod builder, NCFFB moderator and all around fisherman extraordinaire, chucking (oh, I shudder to say this).....
A BIG BLACK JIG!!
He was, of course, hooking into absolutely nothing, because everyone knows that fish won't grab jigs. (The fisherman who handed Buzz the abomination was seen holding his sides and laughing hysterically over the "good one" he pulled on Ol' Buzzy.)
After going strikeless, Natzke was overheard remarking, "I wonder if I can cast those big plastic pink worms with this rod?"
Nothing less than excommunication should be considered as punishment for this "representative" of our fly fishing community.

Pink worms don't work. Ihave several skeins of roe you can have. Better yet I hear dynamite works good when you get real desparate.

FH,
Pink worms work well in the hands of a worm master. I believe that with the proper worm in your hands, that would be you.
I've thought about it, but rubber is where I draw the line. (Hey, we all have to draw it SOMEWHERE.)
As for them not working, in BC I witnessed a couple of young guys hook a mess of steelies in the Bulkley River with large pink worms, which I'd never seen before.
From what I've read, you use worms as your last resort. They either scare the fish or turn them on. If you use it in a run first and they get scared, you've blown your chances.

OH NO. This casts a deep stain on the reputation of this once esteemed member of the NCFFB. We'll have to take this up with management to determine whether a cut in pay, or out and out termination is in order.
Bruce, thanks for bringing this to our attention. But I heard it gets worse. Something about child endangerment? The dark side is truly a deep dark hole out of which one may never crawl.
Bruce, bless you for upholding your morals and ethics and not stooping to worms.......BTW, have you ever tried a San Juan Worm for Steelhead?????

Desperate times call for for desperate measures!! 17 Years, 4 Months ago

Show pity on ol Buzz. He could have resorted to the time tested Great Lakes steelheading style of incorporating pencil lead sinkers or slinkies to the terminal tackle or even worse- guts. Bruce, this technique works wonders in the those salmon holes on the T. Don't forget to do your part by taking your share of the trash out when you exit the rivers of our fair state.
Which reminds me, I have to get some more pencil lead sinkers.

Nope, haven't tried the SJ worm for steelies. They work well on the Juan, and I've seen 'em land a steelie or two on the worm on the American River.
I had them up with me, along with my 1,243 other flies, but didn't have to go to many "patterns" while fishing.

In my youth i vetured up to the Island and bought a centerpin and float rod and several dozen pink worms and knocked them dead. To many people use them now and they dont work as good as they use to.

leave your bananas at home. As far as gitts method goes you have to use a level fly line. IMHO a bait caster works much better.
