The close of general trout season is November 15th... a fixed date, not like the "last Saturday of April" sort of thing for the opener. That does not mean that trout are done for, however. There are plenty of rivers open all year, or with special seasons. The Upper Sac, for example, is open year round, although the fishing isn't wonderful. There are special seasons on the Yuba, American, Carson, Stan and a load of others. So, in pays to really read the regs and to make sure where you want to fish is either open or closed. A look at the regs is generally better than a call to a fly shop as you may mix wires and end up fishing somewhere that might actually be closed.
