Upper Sac Report 17 Years, 5 Months ago
Been fishing the Upper Sac the past couple days... fishing has picked up in the evenings with a mess of Octobers fluttering around and fish grabbing big orange stimmies in the pocket water. Fished lower one morning and it kind of sucked, so we've stayed close to the upper water with more pocket water. Temps aren't bad but it is cool early in the AM and late in the PM... real comfortable in the middle of the day.

Fished the Upper Mac this AM due to bad reports about the Lower. The Upper kind of sucked. Water was low and the air temps were COOOL. Seemed to put the fish down and keep them out of sight.... except for the planted fish, which we could see and target and catch. Returned to the Upper Sac in the afternoon and fishing picked up about 2x.

One more day on the Upper tomorrow and then I head home.

Tally for today was 20... 6 on the Upper McCloud and the rest on the Upper Sac. Yesterday I had 15.

Sunday we drifted the upper, short drift on the Lower Sac and that pretty much sucked for us... 3 fish for 3 anglers... no good. Just don't have a feel for what is happening there right now. That bridge construction at 44 is CRAZY.

Bjorn,

It is good to see that you can still make up numbers with the best of them...

Sounds like a fun trip nonetheless. Give me a shout when you get back home, I got a question fer ya...

Sounds like I should have stayed later on Monday. Left at about 2:30 and had 8 to hand. Lost 3 nice fish at that lower run I was headed to. I'm clearly out of practice.

Ha ha... yes, you should have stayed later and moved up river with us... that's where the Octobers were and they were eating dries when we got there... which = ruling.
