Yes, you have full cell service on the Middle Kenai!
Now before you go out and get all upset, Matt talks real time with his informal guide network (via cell) to get current info on what's happening and what's working.
This shared info put us into a lot of big fish!

Some things should be sacred, like fishing without a phone...I was with my best friend fishing the sac one day and on about the 20th phone call he got I grabbed the phone and through it in the water (I was nice and took the sim card out first).....ended up buying him a new phone....Unfortunately I am a hypocrite because now I tend to answer my phone, even when on the water.

Maybe we should get a mini-bash up for AK for us old pharts that aren't up to camping in a wet tent with bears all around and sinking float planes! I much prefer my nice heated RV with a bed!!!!

At first I was not too happy about cell phones in the boat.
But then I had a big pig pulling on the end of my line and I got over it real quick!

On my recent trip to the Fall River I had my Blackberry with me. I can't tell you how much fun it was emailing my buddy, who was at work, giving him a blow by blow of the fish I was catching!

Like I said, I am kind of a hypocrite because I have done the same thing...never to the extent of my buddy on that trip though....it was the most annoying two hours of fishing....then it got better. Luckily the phone was just ano old POS nokia.

or the silvers that learned to walk. Trick question, Bob?? My kids always ask how many people are dead in the cemetery as well.

Great report. We fished most of the same water about 2 years ago but fished in August not September. Looks like you had better luck with Steelheads than we did and while we had some monster rainbows it looks like you did better there as well. Amazing area with a ton of huge fish.
