The Northern California Fly Fishing Board

This weekend was my company's annual getaway and I did manage to actually fish for about 45 minutes.
I haven't fished at Buck's Lake before so I drove around a bit til I found a spot with weedbeds and a channel of a feeder creek. Using a brown Jay Fair style wiggle tail I picked up 6 nice browns all about 16" during the middle of the day. Some type of mayfly was hatching and a few fish were hitting on the surface. I think the browns may of been staging for the fall spawn up the creek cuz I did see quite a few fish stacked up as I was leaving.

I think that's the best kind of fishing--you probably didn't have any expectations, didn't have a lot of time, and it all came together for a great 45 minutes. That's great.

my 2 yr grand niece said "Uncle Paul, catch fish", so I casted out and caught another one.

I was in New Mexico a few years ago fishing the Cimarron, and two very nice senior Southern ladies, saw me fishing. "Do you mind if we take your picture?" I didn't mind. "You know, it'd be awfully nice of you if you'd catch a fish, too." And fortunately I did. Isn't it nice to do stuff on command?

Usually that happens when I say, "Hold my beer and watch this"....sometimes it even makes the papers......
