Guess I owe you folks an update. Sorry for the long silence. We have been busy.

Short summary as of SAT, 6 SEP 08

Cathy has managed to stay out of ICU, and seems to be recovering well from the surgical effects of the surgery. She is still having some breathing problems, and has some edema in both her legs. The docs are chasing those two items pretty vigorously. She is on solid food now, eating three meals a day, and getting the occasional strawberry shake (Frappe in MA)

She was scheduled to get out on Friday, so there was some serious cleaning going on around the house, but it did not happen. Again today, we thought she would be discharged, but the edema has the pros worried (and me) and she was not discharged. She took it pretty well, and is returning to taking some walks after a hiatus that likely did not help. We went out on the rose garden patio today for almost an hour, out in the sun, which she really liked. She took a 75 foot walk at the end of that session, then lunch and a good nap.

Maybe tomorrow, maybe not. We’ll take it one day at a time. Please do keep those prayers and good thoughts coming her way. The kids have been great. They have spent a lot of time here visiting and helping me out. We shall get through this.

Ed, thanks for the update. You know we've all been concerned for both of you, and we pray for a complete and speedy recovery.
