Subject: HIGH PRIORITY: Caples Lake Fish Transfer
Importance: High
Good Morning Dustin,
I hope you are feeling better by now. At least you have some time off to relax and recuperate.
CSPA and Sac-Sierra have been asked by DFG to coordinate solicitation of volunteers for the transfer of fish from Caples Lake to Silver Lake. We don't have all the details yet and the time frame for notification is very short. Here's what I can give you so far (details should be available Friday evening) and I hope you will be available to forward the details to AFF members and maybe the Delta Flyfishers and ??) immediately when you get them:
o The fish transfer will begin August 26th [less than 2 weeks from now] and will be completed in a 72 hour period.
o The work will be conducted in 6 back-to-back 12-hour shifts (i.e., working through the nights as well).
o Volunteers are needed but the number has not yet been determined. They will have to provide all their own personal needs (food, bedding/lodging if they stay over, etc.)
o The work will require good physical condition for continuous labor at 7,800' elevation. We should have a description of the type of work to be done by volunteers no later than tomorrow night.
o Chris Shutes and I are working on a volunteer application form which I will email to my contacts and he stated he would put it on the CSPA website. The form should be available Friday evening. We do not know yet to where the responses are to be sent.
o Persons interested in volunteering need to apply and be confirmed; they are not to show up on site without prior approval; DFG said since this project is so intense, extra people hanging around will interfere with effectiveness and efficiency.
o We're looking at an application deadline of August 19th (about four days from the day we send it). Confirmation of those selected will probably occur August 22nd (only a few days before the project begins). I hope we get too many applications (that would be nice!).
Are you headed out of town during your long break or will you be able to ensure it gets forwarded to potential volunteers immediately. If you are headed out of town, would you forward this to the members and ask them to contact me at

for more info if they are interested in helping at Caples Lake. Unfortunately, with the short time frame, we do not have the capability of notifying people by snail mail.
Thanks for your help on this.
