Oh ny golly what a nice river system. 45 minutes to 1 hour from C. Springs, you can fish along the South Platte in steep canyons, wind-blown meadows, or a mix of venues! And really steady hatches (esp the past few days, horse flies and mosquitos). And, GM, the Agilent campus is right near the Garden of the Gods and an easy drive up to the river.
I've seen "football" 'bows like on the Sac, but here I caught some football browns... weird, 13" long and 13" around!
Only 10 more fishing days!

Once, while fising up in the canyon upstream from deckers, I was fighting a large rainbow, it jumped several times real close to me so I could see it, it went down, there was a wierd commotion, I kept reeling in and pulled up a five lb brown....I was fishing a two fly rig and I can only assume the brown grabbed the first fly and the rainbow broke off my second fly. I had two people with me...we just stood there looking at each other wondering what the hell happened.

Cheeseman canyon is a cool place. You can see the fish and they are huge. They even will rest in the break you create by standing in the water. The tricky part is they like very small bugs 24-28 and require impossible drifts. Other than that it’s a piece of cake. Don't forget to hit the Arkansas River not too far from the Springs.

Tight Lines,

Yeah, it's cool.
This morning I walked up to one skinny run and waded out ankle deep. Three guys came walking by, and the first one said, "Hi, I'm Carpy"; few minutes later the second one came by and said ... well, you know.

Still looking for those beeg ones.
