Hello All--
I posted here a couple of weeks ago to let folks know that I was the victim of a vehicle break-in on the Trinity on Jan. 20th. My buddy and I lost a couple thousand dollars worth of gear and my invaluable fly fishing journal. We were with Kit from the Trinity Fly shop.

Well, Herb Burton, the owner, just returned from his vacation and contacted me regarding the matter. Even though his insurance will not cover it, Herb told me he will write us a check for the value of everything taken. Period. Don't need to give him any receipts or police reports.

I just want to say that as much as the person who took our stuff lowered my view of humanity, Herb's actions have raised it. I'm simply writing this openly because I want him to get some recognition for being so generous. He was genuinly bummed about the break-in. He said it was the first time one of his guide's had this happen to their car and he wanted to make it right for us.

So my hat is off to Herb.

Herb, Pattie, and Kit are amazing people...part of the reason why we go up there so much throughout the year. Come to think of it, they may be the only reasons I go up there...especially considering how the Trinity steelhead treated me in 2007...

Lewistion and the Trinity River are lucky to have them...and I'm glad your faith in humanity has been restored!

That's a class act by them. I have yet to fish the "T" or visit their shop. However, now I plan to go there and will drop by the shop or try to give them my business as I think this act on their part certainly deserves recognition.

Like you, it's actions like these that restore the faith in human nature.
Sorry about the break-in and theft. The Journel is a hard thing to replace.

Hope the people who stole the gear get a good dose of karma right back at 'em!

Herb, Pattie and Kit are Amazing people!

A lot of other shops (Evil Empire), wouldn't have thought twice about, just chalking it up to something that happens now and then.

But that's why the Trinity Flyshop will get my business and Herb, Pattie and Kit will have my friendship and respect for as long as I am alive.

That's a pretty amazing gesture on Herb's part. Had the privilege of fishing with him back in 2001, a memorable day. Hard to imagine most shop owners would have done what he's doing.

Wow, what a gesture. Similar to others, that will prompt me to visit his shop. I have never stopped by.

Last summer I got into an ugly situation on the Lower Sac that was my fault. Even though Herb was guiding some clients at the time he stopped and helped me out, including driving me back to Red Bluff from Los Molinos.Herb refused all offers of payment for his very kind act.The time I did stop by the shop to do a little payback they were closed. The guy is a totally class act in my book.
