Hey KRB's 17 Years, 11 Months ago
It happened again about 50 yards above where it happened before:

The boys and I didn't let a little road blockage get in our way. We hoofed it back to Marble and made a nice camp:

I knew the fishing would suck so I never even cast a line. I don't have to fish the upper. There are places I need to fish. The upper isn't one of them:

Probably going back in a week or so.....

So, how is fishing in Fresno these days?

My mother sent me an article about the plants of brooders in the lower Kings. I much prefer to fish behind the lake. Is that road to Garnet Dike impassable now? I'll be in Fresno over the 3-day weekend.

If you plan on fishing the "upper" Kings behind the lake it might be a bit muddy. With the storms passing through the flows have come up considerably as well. Give it a week to clear out and clam down. Water temps will be in the low forties. High sticking would be the order of the day..Good luck,pd

The road to Garnet is usually open, it takes quite a bit of weather to close it. Check with the Sierra Forest people for sure..

Dang! I came really close to driving up last weekend. If you go again, you may see me up there. Thinking about next weekend. Also thinking about a pothole over by Snelling at the end of the month.

Looks like the road is a bit tricky. It's that 60 foot drop off that bothers me.

Just so the road doesn't drop off...

Wouldn't be surprised if the slide Dave ran into, is still there. It can take a while for them to clear it. Also, the next storm could bring another slide. It's just one of the charms of this place.

Yeah, those brooders they've been planting have made the lower river a popular place. Definitely won't find any solitude out there these days. The road on the upper should be ok other then that spot Dave mentioned. Like Brians was saying, that slide will probably be there for quite a while but Dave has a full size truck so if he got past it shouldn't be too much of a problem. A few years back when it happened they had the folks at the power station in Balch Camp plow the slide over with one of their loaders. A ranger up there told us about the plan but it was probably 2-3 months before they got around to it. BTW, I tried to PM you but kept getting an error message so I sent an e-mail.

There's no way around the slide. I walked in. Its right above Hermit Hole - just like the last one.
