Snowing in Arcata.... 17 Years, 11 Months ago
Brrrrrr! This wasn't in the forecast. Hope everyone is staying warm and dry, unless they are steelhead fishing, of course

any photos?

I lived up there (went to HSU, worked for DFG) for 7 years
and miss that place.

Would love to see pics of a snowy arcata plaza or something.

Yes, I got out of Northern Washington just before the snow hit. Last week the water to the 5th wheel was frozen every morning. Good thing I filled the clean tank and all I had to do was switch on the pump for water. I guess things could be worse. We could be at the Montana house where it is 13F right now. I take that back, I still think I would rather be there.

Hi Jan,
Long time, no talk to. I'm surprised you're STILL commuting to Canada. I thought for sure that you and Dennis would be doing the snowbird routine by now.

For the time I was in Arcata, I never saw it snow, However, I did see it snow in Blue Lake, what is the elevation difference from Arcata to Blue Lake? Is it about 50 ft? Had fun playing in the snow a few times up at Horse Mountain. One of my Profs at HSU told me about seeing ocean affect snow on Mad River Beach.

Weather has been pretty crazy here in Bozeman, MT. The other morning we had a high of 37, by that evening it was -17. Plenty of snow and cold weather so far this winter making it tough on winter fishing opportunities, but great for skiing.

Sadly, I didn't take any photos. The snow didn't really stick, even though it snowed for a couple of hours. It was really cold, and the snow was really wet (almost slush), so I didn't want to take my camera out into it. I have lived in the area several years (undergraduate at HSU and now working on my graduate degree), and this was the first time I had seen it snow in Arcata.

I was really hoping for a snow day at HSU on Monday, but no such luck.

-17??! Whew-whee! That is COLD! I will quit complaining about how cold it is here in Arcata (low 40's).

Still lots of snow on the hills surronding Arcata. I am sure Horse Mountain has tons right now, though I haven't had time to go up and check it out.
