First hand experience w/ Cypress construction 18 Years ago
I'm heading up to see my parents in Redding next week and wanted to take the boat out for a Posse grounds to Bonneview float once or twice, but I'm a little nervous about the construction at Cypress St. Does anyone here have experience as to what it's like right now, especially with these low flows, I would imagine it might be even more difficult. Is it worth the risk????? Maybe I should stick to the Bonneview to Anderson River Park float, I really like the upper float better though. Thanks for any input. Mark

I've been up there a bunch. Witnessed a few boats have 'mishaps', but have not had any problem myself. The flows are about 5k, which makes getting thru the construction a breeze. Follow the signs and make sure you're lined up and you should be alright.
Once the flows increase, the danger will also increase.
Right now, it's pretty mellow and not a difficult thing for an experienced oarsman.

Fishing has been very reliable lately, with most of my days seeing +/- 30 hooked, with at least one or two over 20" to the net per day. Bonny to Anderson has been much slower. I've been running full day trips (8-9 hrs) and only doing Posse to Bonny.
However, this is the absolute worst return of salmon I've seen in my 12 yrs. of guiding the L.S. Egg patterns have not been very effective. (rain helps tho! yesterday was a decent 'egg' day in CERTAIN areas.)
