I could be tying flies... 17 Years, 5 Months ago
instead of shoveling snow! Woke up @ 3:30 this morning thinking I'd left the lights on, started walking down the stairs to turn 'em off & saw the 5" of snow on the roof. Well crap, don't think I can go back to sleep, so I drove down to Raley's to watch the produce come in. Actually, I watched the new for a while before going out to shovel things off. I have been at the bench tying up some Christmas gifts for my buddies.
This photo was taken as I left for the office this morning.

Mike...Mike...Mike,

Shoveling snow has been proven to be hazardous to to the health of men over 49 years of age (heart attack years)if not done properly...

The proper method I favor is the "spousal guilt" method...

Inform your wife that even though you are still capable of many forms of exercise (like fly casting & certain variations of the "mambo", the exertion of shoveling snow may lead to a cardiac episode...

Scientific research that I've conducted indicates that controlled snow shoveling is beneficial as exercise for females...to that end, in preparation for our retirement in an area prone to receiving precipitation in the form of snow, I have purchased a special snow shovel for mrs. pgw (one with a reduced capacity to suitably align with her physical musculature and, prevent over exertion from attempting to lift too much snow) and golf shoes (the spikes will prevent her from slipping on any ice during the shoveling process).

Enjoy tying your flies.

You forgot to mention where you're sleeping tonight. Or doesn't your wife read any of these posts?

The new falling snow really made it look pretty outside this morning. I love to use these cold snowy days to tie up flies for my friends for presents and prepare some for myself for next year's fishing. I have my little fly tying desk set up by a large sliding glass door so I can watch it snow. I have been known to tie up several hundred over the winter months.

LOL, that's funny...while she's been a wonderful wife for just under 33 years, she has no idea of how to operate a computer. She's afraid she'll break something, or delete something important.

Fact is, she hasn't told me where I'm sleeping tonight.

You could do a lot worse than fishing with his flies...I won a box of FTIR's flies (Copper John Assortment) and they've been responsible for a lot of fish being in my net.
