Any Coastal Steelhead Reports??? 17 Years, 5 Months ago
Bay Area coastal rivers opened this weekend. I believe a few could have been fished, even if low flow restrictions were in place. Anybody go out?

There was supposed to be really big waves which should have opened a lot of the sand bars.

I miss steelhead fishing.

Since I see little sense in fishing South of Marin County I have no idea what the status of the rivers (or should I say cricks?) is at the moment.

All the rivers in Marin, Sonoma, and Mendocino Counties remain closed until water flows are high enough. The northern coastal rivers are also closed except for sections of the Eel, Smith, Klamath, and Mad.

DFG maintains telephone recordings to identify rivers subject to closure due to low water flows.

There are 2 numbers 707-944-5533 for the central coast (Mendo, Sonoma, Marin County, based on flows on the Russian at >500cfs) and 707-442-4502 for the north coast (Eel, Smith, Van Duzen, Mad, etc)

Hope this helps. Pray for rain, not for the fishermen but for the fish who need to get upstream to do their business.
