Also something else worth pointing out is that when you introduce the $$$ price aspect into the equation it can cause people to say and do ugly things that they otherwise would not do.

It can blind anglers to the fact that caring for the fish and their habitat is the top priority since they are thinking more about that $$$ prize than anything else.

What is good for the "industry" is sustained populations of fish and their habitat. The fact that you want this kind of event, one that you apparently want be be involved in, televised, speaks more about you and your "vision" of Xtreme whatever, than it does about your concern over the "industry"... much less the fish that will be hammered so you can get a close up.
I do think you enjoy the sport as you envision it...but may I suggest that you may want to consider holstering your six shooter of youthful exuberance for a bit and consider your motovations and, the long range consequences of your short but flashly Xtreme Adventure.

Hey hotshot...take the air out of it. You're doing all you can to make a name for yourself, kinda like that lamebrain Steve Sullivan, only with talent. sort of like the modern Lee Wulf bush pilot angler idea...I'd say more like Terrell Owens and his idea of self promotion. Put a cork in it kid, or take it to the age group/mind set that fits your mold. Your comment about folks looking down on you because you're a tournament caster is just a bit off the mark - frankly, I'd say it's more of a lot of folk not wanting to listen to your me me me crap.

Anybody who works in the industry or plans to make a living in the industry understands the fact that the fly fishing industry is very very small. I think tournaments could stimulate growth in the industry.

The more fly fisherman the more money for conservation and more catch and release = happier fish.

Secondly, the old adage "you know how to a million in the fly fishing industry....start with two." I don’t like the sound of that. More people means more jobs in fly fishing and more entrepreneurial opportunities.

Lastly more fisherman more people to fight of them damn peta people.... geez I really hate those people.
