Bill Schaadt could cast 100 feet into a tiny pocket, with a swirling wind, time after time, after time using a discarded rod butt and a mismatched tip from another manufacturer with guides taped on with electrical tape and a fly made from a Fritos bag.

BTW- the first rule of sales: It's not about you. Joe Customer doesn't give a rip about how awesome you are with your product you are trying to cram down his throat.

How did I not like what wanted heard. I wanted to know how people felt. I got some great replies that will be going into my report. However this email was just a thank you. But yeah I guess saying "hey thanks guys" can interpreted as "I dont like what i heard so hurry up troutnut come be an ass to me." I respect your opinion but I think I as well as the rest of the board get it already you hate orvis and anything to do with orvis.

Nope, just lucky to have met these people. They kept me away from lots of other bad influences that were rampant here in California and Sonoma County.

so you can fly cast 120 feet...big efffing deal. That is a skill that actually has very little impact on the ability to fly fish. My point was that at 19 you have NO credibility as to what actually constitutes a good business. There is no question that you have a sweet deal. You got some nice gear. I am sorry if that does not sway me in my opinion of Orvis. Eat your cookies and drink you milk, get to bed early so you can get up in time for class and report back in say...twenty years when you have some real life experience. Until then enjoy casting on your stupid casting pond....I will be on the river.

Keep up the good work on the distance casting G, you and your bro have special tallents. Those that claim your unique abilities are of little value with respect to fishing may not realize what value your abilites actually add.

I agree that the personal attacks are out of place. I think respect for each other (both ways), despite differences in opinion and age or whatever is called for. We all bring something to the campfire, and we all enjoy fly fishing, even if we enjoy different aspects of the sport. Attacks only bring more counter attacks.

Just remember that what started this was his incredibly spammy self promotion of himself and a company that frankly I, as well as quite a few other fly fisherman, have little respect for. It sounds like he is well on his way to being able to provide himself with a career in fly fishing, and I applaud that. Anybody who can make a career out of doing something they love is doing great. Just don't shove Orvis down my throat as a great company because they have given him a bunch of free schwagg; and yes his age does come into play, there is a credibility factor that is certainly lacking.
